Welcome to watch a little life unfold. June 3, 2006 at 3:30 a.m.
I know most mares do not like folks around while they birth, though we know Ella very well, and I had a feeling she'd want me there, and as it unfolded...
it almost seems like she waited for me.
All these days I have been watching her and praying that God would let us be present for the blessed event, and at 3:30 this morning, for the first time, I grabbed a book and quilt, and headed out to the barn. She had been showing signs that she was getting close to foaling for days and I had only been doing the 2 hour check thing. This time I decided to grab the Joyce Meyer book & quilt and stay the rest of the morning with her. Me, the cat and the quilt...snuggle up to read in the cushy lawn chair...though it wasn't to be. Ella seemed to be waiting for me and stretched, something was different so I went back into the house to change out of p.j.'s and wake Jim. I told Jim he had better come out..."I think it's time."... as soon as I returned to our humble little stable, Ella looked at me again and her water broke, now I turned and stood outside the barn and loudly called to Jim he'd better hurry or he'd miss the whole thing! The whitesh/blue sac balloned out slightly (just like in the photos I'd seen!) Within probably 15 minutes Ella delivered a healthy filly, and I had taken 250 pictures!
Jim did a great job helping her, and we both felt so happy to share this moment together...
it has been a lifelong dream for us...and I am so happy to see the lines of Carino*E* and Horizon together. We had decided long before Faith was born that if the foal were a filly, we'd keep her. So happy to welcome Faith to our home!
~Blessings to you~
